Starting in Birmingham on our Heart of England tour will visit the quintessential English towns such as Stratford-Upon-Avon, a charming village and the birthplace of the most famous English poet and playwright Shakespeare. Explore Warwick and its medieval castle originally built by William the Conqueror, go punting on the river in Cambridge and enjoy the medieval walled city of York including a visit to the stately home, Castle Howard. Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Birmingham!

On arrival at Birmingham Airport you will have a private car transfer to your Hotel available on request.

Check-in at your Hotel with the rest of the day at your leisure

This evening you will meet your new friends and our local representative for a welcome dinner at the Hotel with beer, wine and soft drinks included

Day 2

Enjoy Breakfast in your Hotel

After breakfast, meet with your Local Guide and depart to Stratford Upon Avon, a market town dating back to medieval times. Stratford is today most famous as the birthplace of the Elizabethan playwright William Shakespeare. You will walk around the old city and visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace to walk in Shakespeare’s footsteps and explore the house where he was born and grew up.

Lunch at your leisure.

In the afternoon, we depart to Warwick, a charming town founded on the banks of the River Avon in 914 AD by Ethelfleda, sister of Edward the Elder, as a defence against the Danish invaders. Many of the central streets of the town were destroyed by the Great Fire of 1694. The buildings which were burnt, and many which were not, were re-built in the handsome style of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. You will visit the Castle, a medieval castle developed from an original built by William the Conqueror in 1068. Departure to Birmingham.

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast in your Hotel

This morning you will meet with your Local Driver/Guide and depart to Cambridge, a city on the River Cam in eastern England, home to the prestigious University of Cambridge, dating to 1209. University colleges include King’s, famed for its choir and towering Gothic chapel. You will visit the Chapel where you will see an exhibition of the history of the College as well as the College grounds (when open). Lunch at leisure. In the afternoon you will discover the city by punt, passing landmarks such as King’s College and the Mathematical Bridge. Optional Cambridge Alumni Tour can be arranged: walk through a thousand years of human history: from an Anglo-Saxon church tower to a contemporary (and controversial) clock that doesn’t even tell the time properly. See the rooms where Newton wrote his theory of gravity and hear the truth behind the apple tree myth. Visit the pub where Watson and Crick announced one of the greatest discoveries of the twentieth century

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast in your Hotel

This morning you will meet with your Local Driver/Guide and depart to York, a walled city in northeast England that was founded by the ancient Romans. Its huge 13th-century Gothic cathedral, York Minster, has medieval stained glass and 2 functioning bell towers. The City Walls form a walkway on both sides of the River Ouse. On arrival you will make a panoramic tour around the city.

Day 5

Enjoy breakfast in your Hotel

This morning you will meet with your Local Driver/Guide and depart to visit Castle Howard, a stately home in North Yorkshire, England, 15 miles north of York. It is a private residence, and has been the home of the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for more than 300 years. After the visit you will go back to York.

This evening you will enjoy dinner with drinks included at a local restuarant

Day 6

Enjoy breakfast in your Hotel

This morning you will meet with your Local Driver/Guide and depart visit Fountains Abbey, one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. It is located approximately 3 miles south-west of Ripon in North Yorkshire, near to the village of Aldfield. After the visit we will go to the The Lake District, a mountainous region in North West England. It is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains. The National Park was established in 1951 and covers an area of 2,362 square kilometres. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017. On arrival, we will have lunch at leisure and then a beautiful cruise at Windermere Lake. In the afternoon, departure to Liverpool.

Day 7

Enjoy breakfast in your Hotel

This morning meet your Local Guide for a panoramic tour of Liverpool, a maritime city in northwest England, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. A key trade and migration port from the 18th to the early 20th centuries, it’s also, famously, the hometown of The Beatles.
